August 25, 2012......
Thanks to all our family, friends, patients, Jones Memorial Hospital, Better Days for a wonderful send off. We are forever appreciative to each of you for sharing in our lives and making our lives so special. We love you from the bottom of our hearts.
Dr. Joe Felsen Day.....
Dear Peace Corps Bloggers...... I am going to try to keep you all up to date with our new adventure as Peace Corps volunteers in Fiji. It is hard to believe that in one week we will be heading for a two day orientation in LA before flying overnight to Fiji on Tuesday, September 4. We arrive at 5:30AM and will take a bus to "Camp" for a four day orientation before meeting our host families. We will live with our host family for 8 weeks learning the language, customs, culture etc. I am not sure if I will have access to internet at that time but I will try to keep a journal of our sights, activities, people, etc. Yes, Marley, I will try to describe everything in detail! We are excited, nervous, exhausted, happy and looking forward to our adventure. In Fiji we will be working for the Ministry of Health as healthcare facilitators in assisting the people in meeting their healthcare needs. We really will not know what our assignment will be or where we will be living until November 1 when we are sworn in as Peace Corps volunteers. Thanks again to everyone xxxxxxxxooooooooooJoe and FA

June 2012
"BULA".....We are going to Fiji! We will be healthcare facilitators with the Ministry of Health. We will be assisting the people of Fiji with their healthcare needs in hopes of decreasing premature deaths due to non-communicable diseases.
Our departure date is September 2 to Los Angeles for 2 days of"Pre-staging". We arrive in Fiji September 6. Joe and I will each be assigned a host family where we will live for 3 months, learning the language and culture.
We are happy and sad as we leave for 27 months. We will miss our family, friends, patients, community. The hospital is having a community recognition party for Joe on August 26. We are sooooo thankful to everyone and we look forward to our next adventure. I will keep you posted! I have attached a few pictures of our greatest joys......Jack, Luke and Ryan.
