Chinese New year.....This week we join millions of Chinese people around the world in welcoming the year of the horse.  The New Year is a time for celebration.  It is an opportunity for reconciliation.  It's a time when old grudges are supposed to be set aside.  It is a period when families get together and share offerings of food and gifts.  It's a time when misfortune makes way for good tidings.  It is when midnight is greeted with much fun fare and joy.  The New Year is the most important of the traditional Chinese holidays.  Fondly referred to as the Spring Festival, it is held in the middle of winter.  The festival begins on the first day of the first month in the traditional Chinese calendar and ends with the Lantern Festival which is on the 15th day.  The New Year is the longest and most important festivity in the Chinese Lunisolar calendar.
